Haymarket Real Estate Information
The town of Haymarket was burned by Union Troops in 1862, leaving behind only 4 buildings. One, St. Pauls Church is still there today. Haymarket has dramatically changed over the past decade as Suburban growth of the Washington DC Metroplex continues. The land was once purchased by Walt Disney Company with the intention of building a Disney America Theme Park. The proposal was blocked by local businesses and citizens. Today, the land once owned by Disney, has been developed into large gated golf resort styled communities, Piedmont Club, and Dominion Valley Country Club.
Haymarket still enjoys a small town feeling with street festivals and weekly farmers market. Shopping options are growing in town with the arrival of a Super Walmart, and Kohls Department store. Dining options are expanding as well. Tony’s NY Pizza, foster’s Grille, and AKT Nourish are serving Haymarket. Fast food chains are represented with McDonalds and Chick Fil-A. Starbucks and my favorite ice cream place, Pickle Bobs are located in Haymarket as well.
Housing options in Haymarket range from large estate single family homes, farms, townhouses, and condos. Some of my favorite communities are, Dominion Valley Country Club, Market Center Condos, Piedmont, Piedmont Riding Club, South Market, Villages of Piedmont, Evergreen Farm, and Bull Run Estates. On a personal note, my triplets graduated from Battlefield High School in Haymarket. They all graduated their University or College of choice and are thriving. The views of Bull Run Mountain are spectacular and you truly enjoy a small town feeling so close to a major metropolitan setting. Haymarket is a wonderful location to raise a family.
